The program focuses mainly on the study of the World Trade Organization, of the European Union in an economic perspective and of international economic development. The Master/LL.M. IEL also aims at providing students with some basic knowledge of international law, contracts and market regulation.
The two semesters are composed of mandatory courses.
Students opting for the Dissertation must write a master’s thesis. When the programme is successfully completed, students who have chosen this track may apply for a PhD.
Students opting for the Internship must do an internship (minimum 2 months eq. 308 hrs) and write a report.
Enjeux
This course is a re-shaped version of previous Master MINTEC, and is a 2 year program entirely taught in English.
Semesters 1 and 2 aim at giving students a thorough knowledge of the private and public aspects of international and European legal issues.
The programme offers a comparative perspective, focuses on methodology with a view to providing the students with the tools needed to hold positions as lawyers in an international and European context.
Semesters 3 and 4 aim at giving students a thorough knowledge of international economic legal issues. According to the French grading system, the master’s degree is a national diploma recognised in the European Union countries and which is equivalent to a Legum Magister (LLM).
Spécificités
During Semester 4, students will participate to the "ESL Legal Lab". Which is a practical experience developed in collaboration with ESL partners (Lawyer office, international corporations, local and national companies etc), adapted to provide the necessary skills to integrate the professional world. During this class, the students will be required to work in small groups on specific cases having an International, European and/or Comparative law dimension under specific supervision by both Professors and professionals, in order to propose effective and concrete solutions that can be utilized on daily practice by the ESL partners.

The admission committee will assess your application based on academic results, English proficiency, personal experiences (international and/or professional) and motivation.
Intake: 28 students max for the 1st year | 20 students max for the 2nd year.

CRITERIAS FOR THE FIRST YEAR OF THE MASTER
Admission to the first year of the Master's programme depends on the number of seats available and is subject to an examination of the candidate's file.
Required diplomas:
- hold a Law degree obtained in France OR a foreign degree in a legal discipline equivalent to 180 ECTS, i.e. Bachelor's degree, Licence or equivalent
- Qualifications in other disciplines worth 180 ECTS minimum OR have significant professional experience in the field of the LL.M.'s programme applied for. Communication skills:
- Proven knowledge of English (minimum B2, C1 for a mobility to Dundee)
CRITERIAS FOR THE SECOND YEAR OF THE MASTER
Admission to the first year of the Master's programme depends on the number of seats available and is subject to an examination of the candidate's file.
Required diplomas: - Successful completion of the 1st year of a Master’s degree in Law obtained in France OR a foreign degree in a legal discipline equivalent to 240 ECTS. - Qualifications in other disciplines equivalent to 240 ECTS OR significant professional experience in some of the subjects taught on the course may also be considered. Communication skills:
- Proven knowledge of English (minimum C1)
CRITERIAS FOR BOTH YEARS
Academics:
- A solid grounding in the fundamental areas of public and private law.
- Have an excellent academic record and an awareness of international and/or European issues
Skills:
- Ability to express yourself clearly orally and in writing in academic and legal English.
- Ability to work both in groups and individually.
- Ability to work independently and use legal documentation.
- Ability to use complex legal reasoning and a wide range of sources and knowledge.
Experience (non-cumulative conditions):
- Evidence of voluntary or community work experience and/or
- International experience (travel, study, training) and/or
- Experience in legal practice (internship, moot court, etc.)
Communication skills:
- Ability to write essays and dissertations in English
- Ability to read extensive or complex texts in English
- Ability to speak English fluently (presentations, seminar discussions, class participation)
Project motivation and coherence:
Alignment of the degree with the applicant's career goals and/or plans for personal and professional development.
Programme
The first two semesters are spent at UT Capitole. During the third and fourth semesters, 2 students have the opportunity to study at the University of Stetson (details below).

Admission to Stetson University
The application campaign for the dual degree with Stetson University is scheduled every year in Semester 2.
This program mainly deals with international economic law and international law. The student will spend the entire semesters 3 & 4 at Stetson University College of Law.
The student must complete all the required courses and pass the exams according to the host University requirements. As for the elective courses, they must be chosen upon approval of the University of Toulouse Capitole. All the exam modalities at Stetson University College of Law are handled by the host university. In addition, to validate the LLM IEL Program the student must either write and defend a master's thesis or write a report based on an interneship experience (Duration 2 months or 308hours).
PROFESSIONAL PROSPECTS:
Students who obtain the MINTEC have several legal job opportunities, and especially those in relation with international economic law. The programme provides them with the skills needed to hold positions in law firms, companies but also in public services, including international or European institutions. Students opting for the Research Track can pursue academic research.
